History:
Directors, Bill and Joe Flanagan have been involved in hockey their entire lives. Both brothers went to Austin Prep and then on to Canterbury Prep School. Bill received a 4-year scholarship at RPI and Joe received a 4-year scholarship from the University of New Hampshire. After college, Bill was the Head Coach at Austin Prep High School in Reading, MA. During his six seasons, Bill put Austin Prep back on the High School hockey map. During his tenure the Cougars won four Catholic Central League championships and participated in the MIAA Super 8 Tournament 4 times, finishing 3rd in 2000. Bill was named Boston Globe & Lowell Sun Division 1 Coach of the year in 2000. Bill left Austin Prep as the schools all-time winningest hockey coach. Prior to Austin Prep, Bill was the associate head coach at Lawrence Academy where he won 3 consecutive ISL League Titles. Currently, Bill is the head coach of the Cyclones Junior A team and was named Atlantic Junior Hockey League Coach of the Year for the 2006 season. Joe was a 1988 NHL Draft choice of the Los Angeles Kings. In 1992-93, Joe played for the Birmingham Bulls of the East Coast Hockey League where he won Rookie of the Year honors. That season he also made his International Hockey League debut for the Cincinnati Cyclones. The 1993-94 campaign saw Joe begin the season in the New Jersey Devils training camp, from there he went back to Birmingham and scored 126 points in 62 games and received MVP and Sherwood Player of the Year honors in the ECHL and another stint with the Cyclones for the IHL Playoff-run. Joe finished his professional playing days in 1994-1995 with the Worcester Ice Cats. Joe is currently the Cyclones Junior A team's assistant coach.
Bill and Joe started the Cyclones Organization in 1998 with a Bantam and Midget program. The Midget AAA team was ranked #5 in the nation that year. They moved from Burlington to the Dracut Ice Huts and began a full fledged youth hockey program and in 2006 with partner Wes Dolloff and moved to the Cyclones Arena which is a brand new state-of-the-art hockey training facility offering programs from learn to play hockey, youth hockey teams both Elite and Select, split season midget teams, Tier 3 Junior A, B & C programs and a Learn to Skate Program.
